From electricians to plumbers and more, these useful contraptions provide a convenient way to store and dispense the essential material. And while no two models will be exactly alike, they all follow the same basic methodology when being opened. So if you’ve never used a tie wire reel before, here’s a look at how it operates.

Be it in pristine or preloved condition, begin the process by unpacking the tie wire reel. New reels may come ensconced in a plastic or cardboard covering for protection, whereas previously used ones won’t have that advantage.

Upon opening the reel, you will find two distinct handles – a smaller one and a larger one. The lesser handle is utilized to apply pressure on the wire and the larger one allows for an effortless unwinding experience.

In order to begin unraveling the tie wire, start off with your left hand firmly gripping the small handle. Subsequently, reqch out with your right palm and clutch hold of the larger handle, carefully distancing it from its counterpart. This process will successfully loosen the wire and permit you to continue unwinding it.

When unwinding the wire, make sure to keep a strong grasp on the broader handle; otherwise, the wire will unexpectedly return to its original state instantly and it will be necessary to start again.

After freeing up a few feet of wire from the reel with the small handle, you can continue to unravel more efficiently with both your hands.

When you’ve obtained enough wire, use the small handle to pull taut and re-coil it onto the reel. Winding the wire back onto the spool will further tighten its tension.

After you have wound the wire, put the reel back into its box or covering to preserve it, preventing it from kinking or harm.
