How to use a 20 Gauge Binding Wire

20 gauge binding wire deserves its place in the hearts (and toolkits) of all crafters. Its versatility can be utilized in a wide range of projects, from binding reams of paper or upholstery fabric to crafting unique jewelry pieces and home decor accents.

Are you unfamiliar with using binding wire? If so, this short guide will help you launch your journey!

To begin, you’ll require a segment of 20 gauge binding wire, accessible in most art crafting stores and on the web. With a pair of wire cutters, expertly trim the wire to the required length.

After selecting the wire that is most suitable for your project, figure out what you intend to use it for. For instance, if you are intending on holding together some paper documents or fabric, one end of the wire requires a loop. To achieve this, simply coil the wire around itself a handful of times.

If you’re creating jewelry, it would be helpful to make two circles on opposite ends of the wire so that you can string beads or any other adornment onto it.

With the loops fashioned, it’s time to secure the papers or fabric in place with a wire. Carefully manoeuvre the wiring through each layer, ensuring it penetrates all strata.

Finishing off a wire binding? If it’s something like documents you’re dealing with, no need for fancy measures: just twist the wire into a knot after everything is in place. But when working with fabric, it’s advisable to sew both ends of the wire securely, to discourage it from coming undone and fraying the material.

Now is the time to put your newfound 20 gauge binding wire skills into practice and create something special! By putting it to use in your next craft project, you’ll be well on your way to artistic success.
